Cobue Afra is a Lake Malawi Cynotilapia mbuna with cave-dwelling rock behavior, a compact body, and strong mature male color. It is active, territorial, and best kept in a structured mbuna aquarium.
Physical Characteristics

Size: Up to about 6 inches.

Coloration: Dimorphic; mature males show the strongest color and barring, while females and juveniles are more subdued.

Origin and Habitat

Native Region: Cobue is in central Lake Malawi on the Mozambican side of the lake, close to Jafua Bay, Kanjindo Rocks, and Masimbwe Island.

Natural Habitat: Upper rocky habitat, usually free of sediment; some populations also occur in intermediate habitats where large schools hover above sand and rocks.

Same-Locality Cichlids: Other cichlids recorded from Cobwe include Aulonocara stuartgranti 'Cobwe', Chindongo socolofi 'Cobwe', Chindongo sp. 'elongatus masimbwe' Cobwe, and Copadichromis melas 'Cobwe'.
