Otopharynx lithobates

OB Yellow Blaze Zrock is a German-strain OB form of Otopharynx lithobates with variable blotching and the bright yellow-blaze appeal of the lithobates group. It is a showy hap for peacock and hap displays where each fish can develop a different pattern.

Origin and Habitat

  • Native Region: German aquarium strain from Lake Malawi Otopharynx lithobates stock.
  • Natural Habitat: Intermediate zones where rock and sand meet.

Physical Characteristics

  • Size: Up to about 7 inches.
  • Coloration: Variable OB blotching with yellow-blaze lithobates color potential; mature males show the strongest display.
  • Body Shape: Medium hap body with a laterally compressed profile.

Behavior and Temperament

  • Temperament: Mildly aggressive.
