Nyassachromis prostoma is a very rare Lake Malawi hap with a lighter, open-water presence compared with bulkier display haps. It is best for keepers who appreciate uncommon species and can provide stable hard water, open swimming space, and calm tank mates.

Origin and Habitat

Native Region: Northern Lake Malawi.
Natural Habitat: Freshwater benthopelagic habitat with open swimming areas.

Physical Characteristics

Size: 7-8 inches.
Coloration: Mature males develop the best color and contrast; females and juveniles are more subdued.
Body Shape: Streamlined hap body suited to active swimming.

Behavior and Temperament

Temperament: Generally mild to moderately assertive.
