Mylochromis Spilostichus Makokola Reef is a very rare Lake Malawi hap with a larger adult size and a generally calmer disposition than many assertive haps. It does best in a roomy aquarium with sand, open swimming space, and compatible peacock and hap tank mates.

Origin and Habitat

  • Native Region: Lake Malawi-wide distribution.
  • Natural Habitat: Sandy habitat and intermediate areas used for hunting.

Physical Characteristics

  • Size: 8-10 inches.
  • Coloration: Mature males develop the strongest display color; females and juveniles are usually more subdued.
  • Body Shape: Medium-large hap body with an active swimming profile.

Behavior and Temperament

  • Temperament: More peaceful to mildly aggressive.
