Peacock and Hap Variety Starter Packs are designed for hobbyists stocking a new African cichlid aquarium or adding compatible sizes to an established tank. Ron’s Cichlids selects the species from current inventory, making this a convenient way to build a peacock and hap display without choosing every fish individually.

What You’ll Receive

• Selection Style: Packs include a random assortment of peacock or hap males depending on the option selected. Bags and packing slip will have species names you received written on, so you know what species you got.
• Species Variety: A single pack is selected to avoid duplicates when inventory allows; ordering multiple packs may result in duplicate species.
• Unsexed Packs: Unsexed options may include multiple fish of the same species depending on pack size and current availability.
• Best Use: Great for stocking a new tank or adding similarly sized fish to an established peacock and hap aquarium.

Best Aquarium Fit

• Peacock Males: Most peacocks mature around 6-7 inches and work well in all-male peacock or peacock/hap displays.
• Hap Males: Many haps mature around 7-12 inches, so long-term adult care often requires a larger aquarium.
• Grow-Out Use: Smaller fish can be grown out before being moved into a larger display with similar-size tank mates.
• Avoid: Adding these fish with much larger, highly aggressive tank mates that may cause them to color down or get bullied.

Care Overview

• Tank Size: A 75 gallon aquarium is a common starting point for peacock displays; many hap-focused tanks are better planned at 125 gallons or larger.
• Water Parameters: 74-84°F, pH 7.4-8.4, hard water.
• Tank Setup: Provide sand, open swimming lanes, stable rockwork, sight breaks, and strong filtration.

Diet and Feeding

• Primary Staple: Feed peacocks and haps a quality daily diet such as Ron’s Peacock & Hap Adult Food.
• Juveniles: Growing fish can be fed Ron’s Juvenile Food.
• Fry: If breeding occurs, newly released fry should be started on Ron’s Fry Food.
• Feeding Frequency: Feed 1–2 small meals daily and avoid overfeeding.

Ordering Notes

Species are selected by Ron’s Cichlids based on current stock, size, color, and fit for the pack. Exact species are not guaranteed unless a listing or option specifically states otherwise. Males in the peacock Packs will all come with some color. For the Haps, most should have color, but some species don't have color at this size, so we vent them to ensure they are male, and they will color up once they are bigger.
