BlueBerry Canary OB Fryeri is a Ron’s Cichlids line-bred OB Fryeri strain selected for blue body color with variable yellow, canary, and OB pattern influence. The amount of yellow can vary from fish to fish and often becomes more prominent as males mature.

Origin and Habitat

• Native Region: Line-bred OB Fryeri strain created at Ron’s Cichlids from Lake Malawi Fryeri-type hap stock with OB influence.
• Natural Habitat: Aquarium line; provide a Malawi hap setup with open swimming room and rock structure.

Physical Characteristics

• Size: Up to about 7 inches.
• Coloration: Blue body color with variable yellow/canary accents and OB influence; mature males show the strongest display.
• Body Shape: Streamlined Fryeri-type hap body with an active swimming profile.

Behavior and Temperament

• Temperament: Mildly aggressive.
• Social Behavior: Best kept with Lake Malawi haps and peacocks of similar size.

Aquarium Care

• Tank Size: A 75 gallon aquarium or larger is recommended.
• Water Parameters: 74-84°F, pH 7.4-8.4, hard water.
• Tank Setup: Provide sand, open swimming room, rockwork for cover and sight breaks, and strong filtration.

Diet and Feeding

Breeding

• Breeding Type: Maternal mouthbrooder.
• Breeding Notes: Males display to females and may claim preferred areas. Females hold eggs and fry in the mouth, and fry should be protected after release.

Tank Mates

• Compatible With: Lake Malawi haps, peacocks, and other moderately assertive African cichlids of similar size.
